What is Leadership for Safety Excellence?
The Leadership for Safety Excellence – Alberta Only course is designed to empower supervisors and front-line leaders with the skills and confidence to drive safer workplaces. Focused on Alberta’s specific safety standards, this program helps participants understand their legal and ethical responsibilities, recognize and control hazards, and lead proactive safety initiatives. Through practical learning, supervisors will gain the tools to conduct effective inspections and investigations, improve communication, and strengthen safety culture across their teams. By the end of the course, learners will be equipped to lead by example fostering accountability, compliance, and genuine care for worker well-being.

The Leadership for Safety Excellence – Alberta Only course provides supervisors and front-line leaders with the knowledge and skills to promote and maintain workplace safety. Through engaging modules, learners will explore their safety responsibilities, understand how to identify and control hazards, and learn how to conduct inspections and investigations effectively.
By the end of the course, supervisors will have a stronger understanding of how their leadership directly impacts the health and safety of their teams, fostering a proactive and compliant safety culture within their organization.
TOPIC OVERVIEW
This course focuses on the essential elements of supervisory leadership in safety management. Learners will understand the importance of effective communication, hazard control, and compliance with legislative standards in Alberta. The program helps supervisors build confidence in managing daily safety responsibilities while improving their organization’s overall safety performance.
COURSE TOPICS
- Supervisor’s Role – Learn the responsibilities of supervisors and how leadership influences worker safety and performance.
- Hazard Identification, Assessment, and Control – Understand how to recognize, assess, and control workplace hazards to prevent injuries and illnesses.
- Workplace Inspections – Learn how to conduct effective inspections, identify gaps, and improve safety procedures.
- Incident Investigation – Discover how to report and investigate incidents promptly to improve workplace safety outcomes.
CEUs (Continuing Education Units)

PASS MARK
